Watch Out For Hidden Hazards
Who would think that a young mother, carrying her 1-year-old child would trip on a hidden hazard? The saddest part of this story is that the family was entering the patio portion of a restaurant to celebrate the child’s birthday. Both have been left with life altering injuries.
The floor mat is provided by a rental service company whose service representative had been exchanging the mat weekly with the cord under it. Many people will carry the guilt of contributing to this preventable accident (both mentally and physically) for the rest of their lives. We need to train our service personnel to place floor mats in safe locations and not over hazards. As unintentional as these actions were, they have contributed to destroying a family’s dreams. By the way, no one has attempted to correct this deficiency. It remains this way months after the accident.
